Furman Wood
Commander

Furman Wood | Sr. Vice Commander

Furman is a Sr Vice President and Principal at SK Commercial Realty has 27 years of commercial real estate brokerage experience, and in 2008, Mr. Wood co-founded Commercial Property Professionals. In 2017, Mr. Wood merged his company with SK Commercial Realty. Furman is a Past President of the Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtors, currently serves on the Board of Directors for USO of Georgia, Member of The American Legion (Post 140), Co-founder of Andee’s Army, Inc.

Mr. Wood grew up in Newport News, Virginia and is a graduate of Radford University where he earned a degree in Management. Mr. Wood served six years in the United States Marine Corps Reserves and is a veteran of Desert Shield/Desert Storm.

Charlie Minter
Sr. Vice Commander and Finance Officer

Charles ("Charlie") Minter | Sr. Vice Commander and Finance Officer

Charles (“Charlie”) Minter has served as the Finance Officer for Post 140 since 2017. He is also a financial advisor with Morgan Stanley and holds the professional designation of CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™.

Charlie is a US Navy veteran. He served as a Supply Officer onboard the USS Stephen W. Groves (FFG-29) and later at NAS Meridian, Mississippi from 1992 to 1998. A Georgia native from Columbus, Charlie moved to Atlanta after his active duty service where he has lived for the last twenty-two years. Charlie’s commission came through the Naval R.O.T.C. program at Vanderbilt University where he earned his Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering. He later earned his master’s degree in business administration from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School while at the time working for GE Power.

Charlie and his wife Kimberly have two daughters, Hannah and Brooke, and two spoiled rescued mutts, Murphy and Jasper.

David Davis
Jr. Vice Commander

David Davis | Junior Vice Commander

David Davis is a veteran of the Navy and Army with 20 years of service, including roles as a Field Artillery officer and Foreign Area Officer specializing in Korea and Northeast Asia. He later served as Senior Military Advisor and Chief of Staff to Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison and Chief of Staff to Congressman Kevin Brady. Davis has also held various roles in the private sector and served as a Commissioner on the Pentagon’s Treat Reduction Advisory Commission and on several boards, including the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and the Atlanta Boy Choir.

Patrick Hill
Adjutant

Antoine Odom | Adjutant

Patrick Hill was born in Louisville, Kentucky. Son of missionary parents, he lived in Nigeria, then British West Africa till age 15. Studied Civil Engineering at The University of Texas. Served in the United States Marine Corps from 1963 to 1973. Served at MCRD San Diego, CA; Camp Pendleton, CA; Marine Corps Base, Quantico, VA; Camp Lejeune, NC; Marine Barracks, Mare Island Shipyard, CA; Japan, Okinawa, Vietnam as a combat engineer officer. Since leaving active duty, Patrick has worked for companies as a Professional Engineer, working projects in the Southeast US and overseas in Panama, Dubai, and the West Bank of Palestine.

Jinny
Porcari Keough
Service Officer

Patrick Hill | Service Officer

Jinny Porcari Keough, LCDR, United States Navy, 1978-1992 (active and
reserve service). Veteran of Operation Desert Storm. Unrestricted Line
(Computer Operations and Navy Recruiting) and Naval Intelligence Officer.

BA in Political Science from the University of Notre Dame. Commissioned
through Navy ROTC.

Jinny and her husband Michael are the parents of four and grandparents of
six (so far). After resigning her commission, Jinny stayed busy as an active
volunteer with her church, childrens’ school and several Atlanta charities
that she still serves.

Jinny’s family military history can be traced back to the Civil War and she
is proud of each generation’s service to the United States. Her paternal
grandfather served in France in WWI and headed the Veterans Service Bureau
in Rochester, NY; serving veterans is a family privilege!

Drew Early
Judge Advocate

Drew Early | Judge Advocate

Born Harrisonburg VA. Attended US Military Academy, West Point NY, graduating in 1979. Served in US Army, to include service with XVIII ABN Corps, Second Infantry Division, Tenth Mountain Division, and Third Army. Multiple deployments, including Haiti and several to the Middle East (Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Yemen, and the Emirates).

Graduate, with honors, US Army Command and General Staff College and follow-on attendance at US Army School of Advanced Military Studies, with an advanced degree in Strategic Planning. Then multiple planning assignments in the Army, to include Third Army, focusing on the Middle East. Received a separate Master’s Degree in Management while on active duty.

After military retirement, attendance at law school, graduating cum laude from Georgia State University practicing probate and related matters, as well as veterans assistance and elder law. Adjunct professor at Emory University's College of Law, teaching veterans law, and Director of Emory Law’s Volunteer Clinic for Veterans. Resides with his wife, Nancy, in Sandy Springs, Georgia and has one daughter, Katie.

Douglas "Doc" Huber, MD
Chaplain

Doc Huber, MD | Chaplain

Douglas Huber, MD serves as Post 140 chaplain and has served two terms as Post commander. He is referred to as “Doc” by his Legion comrades.

He is an Army Medical Corps veteran with experience in the Vietnam War. He and his wife Deena reside in Sandy Springs, where they raised their children. Dr. Huber, now retired, practiced Pathology with the Wellstar health system where he was honored with the accolade Best of the Best. His interests are camping, hanging out with friends, physical training, reading and exploring.

William Makepeace
Facilities Manager

William Makepeace | Facilities Manager

William Makepeace is a retired U.S. Marine Corps combat veteran and a past commander of Post 140. He graduated from N.C. State and received his MBA from Campbell University. Makepeace most recently earned his Master of Fine Arts in Sculpture from Savannah College of Art & Design. He hosted exhibitions at Post 140 in early 2020. He is also a past adjunct professor at Georgia Military College - Columbus campus and Columbus State University.

Jon Reeder
Immediate Past Commander

Jonathan D. Reeder, CAPT USN (Ret) | Immediate Past Commander

CAPTAIN (O-6), U.S. NAVY, Surface Warfare Officer. Active and Reserve component from January 1981 to retirement in May 2011. Completed a successful career in Surface Warfare operations, joint planning and intelligence. Commanded three reserve component joint units with over 120 members in support U.S. European and NATO operations. Awarded multiple personal awards for performance and mission accomplishment.
